Yin is an introspective practice that offers a chance to turn inward and nurture a calm, quiet center. Poses are held for time with little to no muscular effort. The Yin practice embraces both Eastern and Western concepts: from an Eastern perspective, Yin poses stimulate the meridian lines and open energetic channels within the body; from a Western perspective, when a posture is held for time we apply moderate stress to the connective tissues (tendons, fascia, and ligaments). A healthy amount of stress hydrates and repairs the tissues and can ultimately restore range of motion.
