Hatha Yoga, which translates to “force” in Sanskrit, emphasizes a balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic aspects of the body. “hHa” symbolizes the masculine sun; “tha” represents the feminine moon. This practice aims to foster patience, strength, and stillness.
In a Hatha class, all standing, lying, and seated postures are typically held for about one minute each, focusing on static holds and ample cueing to assist with alignment. The pace of the class is slow and breath-focused, making it potentially intense both physically and mentally, yet also relaxing and profoundly centering.
This 3-part class series is suitable for both beginner yogis learning the poses and experienced practitioners who wish to deepen their practice and enhance their awareness of yoga postures. Join for one or all 3. Regular class credits apply!
